US railroads collected $1.4bn in fees in 2018

Major US railroads said they collected revenue of $1.4bn in demurrage and other fees from shippers last year. The US Surface Transportation Board (STB) has been taking a deeper look at railroad demurrage and accessorial charges in tarifs to better understand how those fees drive revenue.
