Cold Lake bitumen output at 5-month high

Production of Cold Lake bitumen rose by 8pc in July, part of a wider resurgence in heavy crude output from Alberta's oil sands region. Cold Lake producers combined for 398,000 b/d of bitu-men in July, or approximately 597,000 b/d when blended with diluent and becomes a marketable “dilbit” at either Edmonton or Hardisty, Alberta. This is the highest level of Cold Lake bitumen output since 400,000 b/d was recorded on the eve of the Covid-19 pandemic in February, according to data from the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER).
