摘要

Flexural deformation of the composite laminateand the integrity of the embedded optical fibres under three-pointbending load were monitored. Signal attenuation in optical fibreswas used as the damage indicator. The network of the specimenfailure was primary dominated by fibre failure, low rate oftransverse matrix cracks and internal delamination between twoplies close to the tensile side. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) was performed on the fracture surfaces of themechanically failed samples to examine the interfaces betweenthe optical fibres and host materials, and showed interfacedebonding in the acrylate coated system.
