Comparative study of marketing efficiency of green pea in pre-and post demonetization period

The present study was undertaken to study the impact of demonetization on market arrivals and prices of pea and other winter vegetables and also to study the impact of demonetization on price spread, marketing efficiency and producer's share in consumer's rupee in different marketing channels involved in marketing of pea. Secondary data was taken from Gehri mandi Jandiala for different vegetables regarding their market arrivals and prices for pre demonetization and post demonetization period. Primary data was taken for two years i.e. 2015-16 and 2016-17 for calculating different indicators of marketing efficiency. The results clearly revealed the fact that market arrivals increased in 2016 than the previous year i.e. 2015.But Prices decreased drastically due to glut in the market due to increased production and demonetization. Farmers had to plough their crops with standing crops .Ratio of marketing efficiency decreased in post demonetization year (2016) in all channels studied as compared to the previous year (2015). If we take into account producers share in consumers rupee the share of farmers declined massively by 40 percent for channel IV, 22 percent in channel III, 19 percent in channel II and 15 percent in channel I in post demonetization period.
