BEE INNOVATIVEa report on the American Beekeepinq Federation conference

Twenty-one beekeepers from our home state of Illinois attended the recent American Beekeeping Federation convention held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from January 8-12. There were over 900 people registered from throughout the United States and Canada.Each day a renowned researcher opened the meeting with their latest research. Wednesday began with a presentation by Dr. Maria Spivak, Department of Entomology at the University of Minnesota. Her keynote presentation was "Restoring Bee Health: Moleculesto Landscapes." Dr. Spivak is always a thought-provoking speaker! Other inspiring talks included a report from the Foundation for the Preservation of Honey Bees and the introduction of foundation scholars. Also, the 2018 American Honey Queen and Princess and the new 2019 honey queen contestants were introduced.
