Galp/Kosmos/Shell closing on Sao Tome wildcat

The first exploration well in Sao Tome & Principe's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) could be drilled later this year, according to major acreage holder Galp. The well will be in Block 6 which is operated by Portugal's Galp in a partnership with Kosmos and Shell. The block is in the far east of the EEZ waters and is on the border with both Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. Shell closed a farm in deal last year for Blocks 6 and 11 as part of a wider exploration partnership with Kosmos which also saw the US firm move into Namibia and South Africa.
