Lekoil has managed to close in on financing for the next phase of development of the Otakikpo field in Nigeria with Schlumberger to provide infrastructure upgrade and management services. The field, hived off from OML11, is operated by Green Energy with Lekoil as technical partner. Green will operate the facilities through a separate company and it will build, own, operate and maintain flow stations, pipelines and terminals. These will be used not just for the export of crude from Otakikpo-under fixed tariff-but also other fields within OML 11. The plan was to use an onshore terminal located outside the Otakikpo field operations area and connect the onshore facilities to an offshore buoy.
