Total has decided on the location for a firm third deepvvater wildcat in its deepwater acreage off South Africa where it made the Brulpadda discovery early this year. The company believes it has "opened a new world-class gas and oil play" with the gas condensate discovery in Block 11B/12B in the Outeniqua Basin. However, while the water depth is an acceptable 4,595ft (1,400m) the waters are treacherous and project costs will rise accordingly.
