Shell keeps the pace for Nigerian projects but writes off OPL 245

Shell said it is keeping the pace for the majority of its Nigerian projects and even promoted the shallow water HA development but has written off notorious OPL 245 from its accounts. Along with other operators, accounting procedures in a time of low oil prices mean the company has written off US $6.3 Bn pre-tax from its upstream assets. These mainly relate to unconventional assets in North America, offshore assets in Brazil and Europe but also OPL 245 containing the Etan and Zabazaba fields.
