Nigeria's oil minister said the frontier discovery in the northeast of the country could hold up to 1 Bn bbl of oil. NNPC spudded the Kolmani River-2 well in OPL 809 last February in the Gongola Basin, the first well in the area in more than 20 years. Eight months later the company said the well has encountered oil and gas in several intervals but remained vague only saying gas, condensate and light sweet oil were found in stacked cretaceous reservoirs.
