Eni is now negotiating with second placed candidate Bumi Armada for the FPSO for the Zabazaba project off Nigeria after the funding for the Saipem/Bluewater consortium apparently evaporated. The Italian contractor had appeared to have an unassailable lead for both the FPSO and pipeline, flowlines, risers and installation (PFRI) for the deepwater project in OPL 245 but several sources say that the Chinese backers have now pulled the plug.
