Total planning frontier exploration rush off Africa

Total is planning at least four "key" exploration wells off Africa - in Angola, Mauritania, Senegal and South Africa - with more to follow next year. The South African well is perhaps the most publicised - the 1 Bn bbl Brulpadda well 175km off the south coast in Block 11B/12B. An Odfjell rig will arrive in the second half of the year for up to two wells. The first will re-enter the 2014 Brulpadda well which had to be abandoned because of mechanical problems. Total is also targeting one well in the Orange Basin next year - this will either be in Orange Basin Deep off South Africa or Na-mibian Block 2913B.
