Liberia to launch new blocks in undrilled deep basin

Liberia will finally launch a licensing round next April - six years after the last one fizzled away. Just over a decade ago operators rushed into the region in the hope that the West African Transform Margin could be extended further out following success in Ghana. Since then about 10 wells have been drilled by ExxonMobil, Chevron, African Petroleum and Anadarko but there has been no commercial discovery although there have been a series of smaller finds such as Narina and Mercury.
