...as Eni takes Angolan gas double

Eni has officially been handed the rights to another shallow water block off Angola as well as onshore acreage. The Italian operator has now taken over offshore Block 1 as well as onshore Cabinda Central. Block 1 originally held the Quiluma and Maboqueiro gas discoveries but these have been hived off into a separate development lease that will provide supply to counteract dwindling feedstock for the Angola LNG plant at Soyo. According to Sonangol, Quiluma has reserves of 756 Bcf of gas while Maboqueiro holds 402 Bcf. Eni is calling the two platform project the Northern Gas Complex and has invited expressions of interest (see AOG 24 October).
