Toyota aims for 21% rise in 2012 global vehicle sales to 8.58m

Toyota, after finding itself outsold not only by reborn GM, but also by Europe's fast-gaining VW Group for the first time last year, appears determined to claw back the global vehicle sales crown that it has long seen as its own. Only last week Toyota raised its 2012 global sales forecast to 8.58m vehicles, compared to the 7.1m sold last year. That's a 21 per cent jump when compared with the 7.1m vehicles sold by the Toyota marque last year.
