Six-week-old Swiss male mice animals were divided into groups selected (experimental) and not selected (control) for body weight gain; 12 selected and 12 unselected mice were fed a low-protein (10%) diet for 14 days, and two similar groups were fed astandard (16% protein) diet for the same period. In the lysosomal fraction of the liver, kidney and skeletal muscle, the activity of alanyl-aminopeptidase (AlaAP), leucyl-aminopeptidase (LueAP), cathe-psin D and L (cath. D and L), acid phosphatase (AcP),lysosomal esterase (EL), lysosomal lipase (LAL), beta-galactosidase (BGAL), beta-glucosidase (BGLU), beta-glucuronidase (BGRD) and N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase (NAG) were estimated. In all the studied organs, the selected mice on a low-protein diet demonstrated decreased activity of all studied enzymes except AcP.
