In May, Honda announced a recall of about 350,000 automobiles in China. The CR-V sport utility vehicle and the Civic car equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine were recalled due to an unusual amount of uncombusted fuel collecting in the engine's lubricant oil pan. The issue appeared to be isolated to northern China, where temperatures dip below the freezing point, and in instances where the vehicles were driven for short distances frequently. Honda engineers thought the engine was not warming up enough to assist uncombusted fuel accumulated in the lubricant oil pan to evaporate.
