摘要

Ground water is an important source of drinking water the most of the parts of India and hence maintaining its quality is critical. Out of the total drinking water 94% demands are met by ground water in rural as well as urban areas. In the present research paper a study is carried outto assess the ground water quality in Jaipur, district, Rajasthan, India. For the study 96 water samples were collected from open bore wells and closed bore wells of 16 different regions of the study area. Physio-chemical parameters selected for study included pH, electrical conductivity,temperature, TDS, Total Hardness, Cl–, F– and alkalinity. On comparing the results of drinking water quality standards laid by WHO and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), it is found that nearly 40–42% of ground water sources are unfit for drinking purpose.Out of which samples of Chaksu, Gonere, Phagi were found to be most polluted. It is found that these factors cause adverse effect on health and there is an instant need to take steps for improving quality.
