Investment Decision: A Preliminary Study of Muslim Academia Preferences

With the rapid development of Islamic financial products and services in Malaysia, vast investment opportunities are made publicly available to cater for the Muslim financing needs. Yet, as the list added, it raises the question of whether an increase in the shariah investmentavenues motivates the Muslim consumers to become more participative and advance themselves in the financial related decision making. This research was conducted with the aim to overview the preferred investment choices of selected respondents initially targeted among the academic staff ofUniversity Teknologi MARA Pahang. They are representing a group of high educated and income level people in expectation of their ability and capability of making a sound investment decision. The required data was obtained using questionnaires designed for a descriptive analysis. The findingof the study reveals that there exists a uniform pattern of preferences among the respondents towards the Tabung Haji investment. The current research brings forward the discussion and implications of the findings in the context of consequences from individual preferences of investment typesand its consistency with the theoretical arguments.
