Performance Comparison of Image and Workload Management of Edge Computing Using Different Virtualization Technologies

摘要

Edge computing concept is introduced to address concern on network bandwidth limitation and processing speed for interconnected devices in accessing central services. Virtualization is one of the key elements to this solution. Currently there exist different types of virtualizationtechnology that cater for different type of workload and resource requirements. This paper investigated the performance comparison of Edge Computing operations using different virtualization technologies. The attributes of interest are the image size, CPU and memory resource utilization, guestmachine boot time and density on the host machine. The knowledge will be used to provide optimal approach in employing different virtualization technology in Edge Computing.
