Data Structure of Ship and Terrain Modeling in Ship Navigation Simulator

摘要

Virtual training and education through simulation is necessary because there are many limitations in actual education of vessel navigation and operation. In this paper, we research data structure of ship and terrain modeling of ship navigation simulator and the method on how to builda database of ship navigation simulator. Unlike the existing simulators, the ship navigation simulator utilizes the Unity3D game engine. The existing database was made in the FLT file format but this ship navigation simulator is produced in a file format with a specified extension. By using3DsMAX to build the database, the ships and terrains are structured together with the construction and we describe how to optimize and modify some of the shading objects. The optimized database will lead to higher performance than other previous modeling data. As it is easy to utilize externalresources, its update is possible at any time by adding the buildings or specific objects which are not present at the time of development.
