A Prospect of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-Diesel Dual Fuel System in Malaysia

Fluctuation in the fuel market price and global warming issues has stirred a great interest in searching alternative fuels to replace the depleting fossil fuel especially in the transportation sector. According to many, Natural Gas could address both issues. Based on Malaysia perspective,this paper addresses the prospect of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)—diesel dual fuel system for Malaysian market. National policies help to encourage the implementation of an Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) even though it is not fulfilled the global practice. However, it is sufficient enoughfor Malaysian. The fuel consumption and vehicle travel distance have a great influence in investing the CNG-diesel dual fuel system.
