Using PLS-SEM to Assess the Effect of Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) on Start-Up Success: The Moderating Role of Support Services

This paper examines how Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) affects Start-Up Success (performance) of Spin-off and Symbiosis Company (SSC). Despite the remarkable study on EO and Performance, there is a loophole on how EO impacts Start-up Success among SSC especially in Malaysia case study.Thus, by reflecting such limitation, this paper hypothesized that EO is positively related to Start-Up Success of SSC with Support Services as moderator. A total of 120 SSC in Peninsular Malaysia were involved in this study from July to August 2016. Using PLS-SEM analysis, the empirical resultsshowed that EO is statistically significant towards Start-Up Success and unveiled the importance of Support Services as moderator. The major implication of this study highlights the importance of Support Services in improving Start-up Success as these support services are available aroundbusiness setting and its potentials are yet to be optimized. In short, the critical discussion provided in this paper would help to strengthen the body of knowledge of Technopreneurs and act as a reference for future research on EO, Support Services and SSC.
