This is a preliminary study regarding the implementation of sitting posture monitoring system for posture correction based on conductive textile. The purpose of this study is to implement a sitting posture monitoring system that is able to observe an individual’s sitting habitsfor a posture correction system. Sitting posture was made up of 6 pose. To acquire sitting posture data, we developed a mat type capacitive proximity pressure sensor (MTCPPS) based on conductive textile and attached on a chair. MTCPPS was consists of a 4 layer structure which has non-conductivetextile of two layer, conductive textile layer and shield layer. The data transmit, receive and monitoring module were developed for measuring sitting posture. Data preprocessing were performed to remove noise and smoothen data using Matlab2015. Each sitting posture was represented of grayscale image for evaluation of each sitting posture. 5 people participated in our experiments. In order to evaluate accuracy of each sitting posture, decision tree algorithm was used using a Weka assessment tool. 8 channel data of each sitting posture, average and standard deviation was usedas a feature. As a result, accuracy of all sitting posture showed over 99%. Based on obtained results of this study, it will be helpful about efficiently development of sitting posture monitoring system.
