USCTI member-companies report 2006 billings of 1.7 billion dollars

Last year turned out to be a good one for the cutting tool industry, according to data collected by the United States Cutting Tool Institute. USCTI's member companies reported 1,719 billion dollars in total domestic billings for 2006. The amount was 16.6 percent more than for 1997, the institute's baseline year. Monthly billings showed a somewhat cyclical pattern. Each quarter had a peak month when billings were more than 20 percent above their corresponding 1997 month. The highest volume month was March at 159 million dollars, 30 percent above its 1997 level, while the lowest was July at 128 million dollars, just 4 percent above its 1997 level. The billings consisted of 74 percent for standard tools and 26 percent for specials.
