In the Indian domestic market, mills could not hold on to prices for both rebar and wire rod afteran attempted roll over of prices at the start of June. The start of the monsoon season acrosscentral and southern parts of India sharply affected construction activity. Meanwhile, thecountry’s longs output rose as new mills came on stream (detailed in the next paragraph),thereby leading to increase in inventory levels (see chart).
