摘要

Stjernholm et al. report in the January 2010 issue of AOGS on an increase in the rate of cesarean section in Sweden from the early 1990s to 2005 (1). Psychosocial reasons were the dominant ?indication for an elective cesarean section in 2005. The authors argue for the development of standardized keys aiding a physician in decision-making procedures concerning the cesarean section practice. The Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare has together with the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions, since 2006, annually presented a report comparing the healthcare quality in the 21 regions in Sweden (2). Sweden has a population of 9 million, with 2 million living in Stockholm, and 65 000 in the smallest region of Gotland.
