Car firms have been making much of the running in terms of battery investments in recent months- but it was the announcement of a deal involving Volkswagen and US battery start-up Quantumscape that ignited particular interest. VW unveiled plans to invest $100 million and increase its stake in Quantumscape to 'accelerate' commercialisation of innovative solid-state battery technology.
