摘要

The thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) is a glycoprotein secreted by the pituitary gland and with a molecular weight of approximately 28 kDa. TSH regulates the endocrine function of the thyroid gland, stimulating the secretion of the thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), which are fundamental for normal metabolism. Euthyroid TSH values range from 0.4 to 4mIU/l [1]. Increased TSH values are associated to hypothyroidism and pituitary tumors, while its drops in concentration reveal hyperthyroidism or hypopituitar-ysm. TSH is measured as well in newborn screening for congenital hypothyroidism [2,3]. Therefore, TSH determination is of great value in clinical diagnoses, especially a lower concentration detection associated with hyperthyroidism or other diseases. The traditional analytical methods for TSH are commonly radioimmunoassay (RIA) and immunoradiometric assay (IRMA) [4,5].
