Every year, for the last 30 years, pay rises in the NHS have been based on recommendations made by the NHS Pay Review Body (PRB). The PRB is made up of seven people, usually with a business background and independent of government, who hear evidende from all interested parties, analyse that evidence and reach a conclusion. This is then published in a report, and the politicians in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern lreland decide wheter to accept the recommendations.
