Air Combat Command wants to prove a new concept for training fighter pilots in a faster and more cost-effective manner. THE US AIR Force has issued a surprising request to industry to supply eight training aircraft for a radical proof-of-concept project for Air Combat Command (ACC). It's all part of the 'Rebuilding the Forge' concept of operations (CONOP), or Reforge; an ACC-run initiative to rebuild the way front line fighter pilots are trained under an efficient Combat Air Forces (CAF) Fighter Training Program. A five-year contract under the Reforge proof-of-concept (RFX) will call for eight aircraft to provide some 4,500 flight hours a year under a Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) that is designed to prove the model.
