THE COMMANDER, NAVAL Air Forces and the US Marine Corps' deputy commandant for aviation jointly announced on February 28 that US Navy's F-35C had achieved initial operational capability (IOC) with strike fighter squadron VFA-147. The milestone meant that the 'Argonauts' had completed aircraft carrier qualifications aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), received safe for flight operations certification, and was properly manned, trained and equipped to conduct its assigned missions in support of the fleet operations. When IOC was declared VFA-147 had received its complement of 10 Block 3F F-35Cs.
