MY MOST CHALLENGING PROJECT

I was hired by a restoration company to project manage a large pack out consisting of $250,000 worth of collectibles and antiques. The company had discontinued offering pack outs and contents restoration, but an adjuster to whom they had been marketing for quite a while finally called with a job. It was water intrusion due to storm damage to the roof. An inexperienced mowing company was initially hired to pack out and store the contents, and it carelessly packed items, including wet artwork and books, leading to mold developing, essentially making these items non-salvageable. However, they carefully packed the electronics and loaded them on the truck last — which was a red flag to the insured that those items would come up missing later. The insured did not allow them to continue the pack out — which left the majority of their artwork, antiques and collectibles. My client and 1 assessed the situation, set expectations, had appropriate paperwork signed, assigned a crew and developed an action plan.
