I make tableware that is inspired by sculpture and sculptures inspired by tableware. The aim in both cases is to make ceramics that convey fun and energy, while trying to capture elements of human forms. I try to keep my functional and sculptural work as interrelated as possible in an effort to blur the lines between the two. Making tableware comes with its own set of rules: it mustn't be too heavy, jugs must pour well, mug handles mustn't be too big, nor too small, and so on. I enjoy seeing how far I can stretch these rules in an effort to make objects that could be seen as sculptures but still work well as functional objects.
