High Court Rules That Copyright Can Subsist in TV Show Formats

Banner Universal Motion Pictures Ltd (BUMP) is an English film company formed by a Danish citizen, Mr Derek Banner. Mr Banner had developed and written a television game show format called 'Minute Winner'. The format for the show was recorded in a short document which contained a synopsis outlining the television game show format and stating that contestants had one minute to win. It also specified that the show could be a daily or weekly broadcast and would air for one minute between other programmes or could air for thirty minutes as a TV show in itself. The programme could be filmed anywhere but preference would be made to filming the show on location.
