Having an interest in the exploitation of mine workers by the coal owners of the Black Country and Staffordshire, I read the article in the Northern Mine Research Society Newsletter of February 2018, entitled 'Black Country Miners. Strike Breakers' with great interest. It featured a piece that had appeared in the Black Country Bugle, and also the Birmingham Mail of November 2017, as 'Black Country miners who broke a strike at a Lancashire colliery'.' Researching the events in depth to find the involvement of the Staffordshire miners revealed related facts that do not seem to have come to light before and are not readily available in the public domain. This research, using newspaper archives, gives a better and truer insight into the dispute of 1866, into the firm of Messrs.
