摘要

In Canada, there are now more older adults (>65 years) than children (<14years). Mobility is 'the best guarantee of retaining independence', and limited mobility predicts disease, disability and mortality. Importantly, physical activity (PA) and mobility are closely linked. Thus, PA prevention strategies that contribute to older adult mobility are key to diminish the risk of chronic diseases, preserve older adults' independence and curb escalating healthcare costs. Older adults remain among the most physically inactive Canadians; 87% fail to meet the PA guidelines.3 In response, the British Columbia (BC) Ministry of Health and the BC PA Leadership Table (which comprised a host of community partners from across BC) cocreated a province-wide PA strategy and action plan, called Active People, Active Places (Fall 2015).
