From organic waste to high value biocoal

Biowaste can be defined as a mixture of biodegradable garden and park waste, organic fraction of municipal solid waste (food and kitchen waste from households, restaurants, caterers and retail premises), food waste (waste from food processing plants), and sludge. To date, EU biowaste production is around 300 million tonnes of oil equivalent (MTOE) and is expected to rise to around 350 MTOE in 2030. However, world statistics are even worse and are predicted to be around 2.5-3.5 billion TOE in 2030.
