We've all done it: rushed out on that first fine and sunny day in March, and sown absolutely everything. Phew! Job done. And then we realise the folly of our ways - either everything has come up in a rush and we're overwhelmed by enough lettuces to feed the county's population of rabbits, or else the weather turns cold and wet, and the seeds rot in their furrow. So, although you might think late April-May is a bit late to make a start on sowing vegetables and herbs, I would disagree.
