US polyethylene (PE) margins are down by more than 40% so far this year with Asian and European margins around 20% lower. This is the result of the US/China trade war, weaker emerging market currencies, the Turkey crisis and economic reforms in China. But this could be just the beginning of problems for the industry if trade tensions continue to build.
