Argentina PVC prices steady after early-June decrease

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s polyvinyl chloride (PVC) prices are unchanged after the $25/tonne drop assessed in early June, tracking direction from Asia, a local source said on Thursday. Low activity is expected in the next quarter, and possibly even the next two quarters, as a result of high interest rates of around 40% which are discouraging investment and consumption. The inflation rate for the year will not be less that 27%, and possibly higher, while the peso currency continues to lose value against the US dollar, the source said.
