Canada to impose federal carbon tax on provinces

TORONTO (ICIS)--Canada's federal government will impose, beginning next year, a carbon tax on four provinces - Ontario, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and New Brunswick - that do not have their own provincial carbon tax or equivalent programmes to reduce carbon emissions, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Tuesday. Taxpayers in the four provinces will be given rebates to help them cope with the new tax.
