India’s HPL plans 12m tonnes/year crude-tochemicals refinery

MUMBAI (ICIS)--India’s Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd (HPL) plans to set up a 12m tonnes/year greenfield crude-to-chemicals refinery complex at Kakinada in southern Andhra Pradesh state,it said in a statement to the Ministry of Environment and Forests.HPL has applied for environmental clearance from the ministry for the project which is expected to cost Rs 627bn ($8.96bn),according to the statement.It will take five years to become operational once it receives the necessary approvals,the statement said.
