Slow economies weigh on Latin American PET markets

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Global and regional slow economies are weighing heavily on the Latin American polyethylene terephthalate (PET) markets. The Latin American economy as a whole is projected to grow only 0.5% in 2019, according to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL), mainly affected by lower-than-expected performance by Brazil and Mexico. Figures by this report contrast previous more optimistic projections by the International Money Fund and the United Nations.
