US formalises additional 5% tariffs on $300bn Chinese goods

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--The US Trade Representative’s office late on Wednesday confirmed that the US will implement the tariff increase on $300bn worth of Chinese imports starting 1 September. Official filing at the US Federal Register stated that the tariff hike from 10% to 15% follows US President Donald Trump’s announcement on 23 August that the tariffs already set for implementation on 1 September and 15 December will be raised by 5%.
