摘要

The present study deals with the qualitative localization of polysacoharides, and total proteins in the developing sporogenous tissue and periplasmodium tapetum of Crepis japonica. This study revealed that: (1) Microsporocyte possesses high concentration of proteins, but lacks storage starch; (2) Tapetum is metabolically a very active tissue; (3) Periplasmodial fluid lacks PAS-positive granules; (4) Cells of the endothecium, shortly after meiosis, exhibit intense accumulation of storage starch whichdisappear completely by the time mature pollen and endothecium are formed; (5) Callose gives PAS positive test; (6) Maturing pollen grains are gorged with polysaccharides and cytoplasmic proteins. The data obtained were evaluated in the light of previous histochemical works.
