摘要

The inhomogeneous quality of products manufactured by semisolid forming is mainly attributed from the phase segregation of semisolid metal slurry during forming [1]. To realize the industrial application of semisolid process (SSP), controlling of liquid segregation should be achieved. Combining SIMA route and time-dependent rheoforging [2], a multi-stage thixoforging strategy was proposed to manufacture ferrous products with homogeneous microstructure and uniform mechanical properties. To verify the feasibility of the proposed multi-stage thixoforging strategy to form products with homogeneous quality, a physical simulation of multi-stage thixoforging of a Cr-V-Mo tool steel (JIS SKD11, AISI D3) was performed. The microstructural evolution of SKD11 steel during multi-stage thixoforging was investigated experimentally. On the basis of experimental results, the effects of forming parameters on multi-stage thixoforged SKD11samples were studied and discussed.
