Parts manufacturers perform boring to precisely enlarge and true a hole they have already drilled or cored. Sometimes boring prepares an ID for a subsequent operation, such as thread milling, slotting or grooving. As in any metalcutting process for manufacturing precision parts, obstacles often arise and must be overcome to achieve customer specifications and profitability.
