Based on my professional experience in both the large enterprise and startup worlds, I believe that business intelligence (BI) and the general category of analytics for business can benefit greatly from the application of Agile development methodologies. As mentioned in Tadhg Nagle and Dave Sammon's companion article to this issue of CBR, for the purpose of this survey, we define Agile analytics as "the application of Agile methods to data analytics initiatives in order to increase flexibility, provide faster 'time to value,' and support collaborative relationships between business users and IT developers." In the same way that Agile has helped create more productive interactions between software developers and business leaders, it can create a tight feedback loop around analytics that will make organizations more responsive, powerful, and actionable.
