Alien Life Form Discovered in an American Lake!

NASA scientists have isolated a new strain of bacteria from an arsenic-containing lake in California, near Yosemite National Park. The strain, named GFAJ-1 utilises the arsenic present in the water as a key building block of its DNA. Every other form of life on Earth uses phosphorus to produce the DNA backbone of cells and arsenic is usually toxic as it interferes with this process.
